Problem with SkyDrive on OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion (Workaround)

If SkyDrive for Mac stopped working after you upgraded to OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, this is what to do:

Before we begin: You should only proceed if you know what you do. After Microsoft has released an update for SkyDrive undo this changes. You should trust all other applications you have installed on your system, because by changing the following settings they theoretically are able the access your SkyDrive cached credentials!

Change the properties in the SkyDrive’s cached credential item to allow access from all apps:

Launch “Keychain Access” from /Applications/Utilities

Select the login keychain from the list

Locate the “SkyDrive Cached Credential” item and select it

Go to “File/Get Info” (Command + I)

Go to “Access Control” tab

Click to select “Allow all applications to access this item”

Click “Save Changes”

NOTE: The “SkyDrive Cached Credential” item is created after you sign-in for the first time.

Otherwise you’ll get an error message like this: “Problems accessing your keychain” / “Beim Zugriff auf Ihre Schlüsselsammlung ist ein Problem aufgetreten.”

Microsoft is aware of the problem and working on a fix!
